Region 297
Coaches Page

We are always looking for people who are interested in coaching their kids in soccer!

Many of our first-year coaches in the younger divisions (U06 - U08) have never coached or necessarily even played soccer before but yet have a very successful year. For those of you who are considering coaching your child but do not feel comfortable yet with your knowledge of the game, we offer plenty of training programs and support to make your experience a success!

If you have questions not answered on this web site, please feel free to contact our Coach Administrator.

For those of you who have signed up to be a coach, you need to do the following to be ready:

  • Attend the Coaches Meeting following registration..
  • Attend one of more of the training sessions that are offered at the Coaches Meeting and during the season. These sessions are offered at various levels. Check our web site for specific dates, times and locations.
  • Complete the Coach Volunteer Registration instructions below, including Safe Haven training if you have not yet taken it.

Coach Volunteer Registration

Volunteer registration is required every season, even for returning coach volunteers.

AYSO National has switched to online registration for all AYSO volunteers. Please follow these following steps to ensure that you are properly registered and protected as a coach.

  • Go to www.eayso.com to register as a volunteer. The instructions for logging in as a new user and registering should be clear. If you have registered in prior years, your information will already be in the database. Be sure to verify that all of it is correct and current, especially your email address!
  • You can also register your child for the upcoming season.
  • Once you have entered the required information online, print your completed AYSO volunteer form. Bring two copies of the printed form, along with a photo id, to your first Coach training clinic, or Coaches Meeting. These requirements are mandated by AYSO National for everybody's protection.

Safe Haven

AYSO Safe Haven training is an absolute requirement for all coaches, referees, and volunteers. If you have not previously taken the training and do not take it this year, you cannot coach. Basic Safe Haven training is good for life.

A meeting for all coaches will be held at the start of the season. Please review our Season Schedules for dates and times.

Accident Reporting

In case of an any accident that requires medical treatment, the first priority is the well being of the injured person, especially if that person is a player.

If the injury is serious, call 911.

If the injury is less serious but still needs treatment and the if injured person is a child whose parents are present, they may consent to transporting the child to the doctor themselves.

If the injured person is a registered player or volunteer (such as a Coach or Assistant-Coach), then certain information must be filed with the National AYSO office and the Regional Safety Directory. Be sure to note the date and time of the accident and how it happened. Collect the names, addresses, and phone numbers of other adults who were present.

Forms

  • Accident Report Form (will open in new window): Print out, fill-in and make two copies. Send one copy to the Safety Director c/o the Region's mail box. Also notify the Safety Director by email.

AYSO National provides supplemental accident insurance to all registered players and volunteers. The insurance claim form is available to those who wish to make a claim. This insurance is secondary to the injured person's own insurance (if they have any) and includes a $200 deductible.

The claim form may be downloaded at this link Insurance Claim Form or by emailing the AYSO Safety Director.
